From a prestige vantage point overlooking the valley, you can enjoy Mediterranean-inspired cuisine from Executive Chef, Robert Curry – recipient of 10 consecutive Michelin Stars. Rutherford Grill

Serving the valley since 1994, this beloved restaurant is a favorite for locals and tourists and considered somewhat of an institution. The reason is simple, it is where you go to enjoy classic burgers, hearty salads, and American comfort food with a twist: pair decadent wines from the valley to complete your delicious meal. But that is not all, you can dine on the patio or at the outdoor bar or lounge around the gas fire pits.

A Rich History of Wine

Rutherford is home to the longest running winery in the valley, Beaulieu Vineyard. With over 100 years of history, the founder of this historic winery – Georges de Latour, hastily sold his flourishing tartar business to buy a four-acre ranch here. It is believed that his wife, Fernande, upon arriving in Rutherford — exclaimed, “beau lieu!” Which means beautiful place.

That was enough to set Georges into action. 100 years later, Beaulieu vineyards now serve some of the best-known wines in the world. But there is much more to the history of wine making in Rutherford…

Inglenook Winery

In 1939, John Daniel Jr., the grand nephew and heir of Gustave Niebaum’s winery, became the owner of Inglenook Winery and ran it for 25 years. Along with Georges de Latour, Inglenook and Beaulieu Vineyard gathered gold medals and attracted international attention to Rutherford’s wineries. John Daniel served as a winemaker and created a 1941 Cabernet Sauvignon which is still considered one of the best wines ever produced in California.

With this combined success and new opportunities, Georges de Latour brought on a young enologist André Tchelistcheff, who would revolutionize and lead the wine industry and become admired around the world.
